Local Pizza Chef Wins Gold

Maurizio represented Parry Sound today at the Canadian Culinary Federation’s pizza competition where he won the 1st place prize, gold medal.

Maurizio’s competition at the challenge included 5 other competitors: 3 red seal chefs and 2 Toronto area pizza restaurants. 4 judges: 3 chefs and 1 representative from the Italian School of Pizza officiated the competition.

Contestants were required to make 4 pizzas in 40 minutes. Categories for the pizzas were 2 classics, and 2 new creations. Maurizio impressed the judges with his signature pepperoni, and new creation, vegan pizza.

Maurizio will now represent Canada (and Parry Sound) at the European World Challenge in Romania from March 4-6.

This is the first time that the Canadian Culinary Federation included pizza in the competition.
