#ParrySound Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

There is a Thunderstorm watch in effect for the Town of Parry Sound and surrounding areas. Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts.

A cold front is expected to sweep through Southern Ontario this afternoon bringing showers and a few thunderstorms along with it. There is a potential that some of these thunderstorms may be severe with strong gusty winds being the main threat. Winds gusts of 90 km/h are possible in these severe thunderstorms.

Hail is also possible. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
