Rainfall Warning for Parry Sound

There is a rainfall warning in effect for the Town of Parry Sound and surrounding areas.
We can expect heavy rainfall today and continue into Monday.
An intensifying low pressure system over Oklahoma is forecast to soak southern portions of the province beginning this morning. It will not be a continuous rain, but several rounds of heavier rain are expected with some embedded thunderstorms in some areas. Total general rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres are anticipated through Monday before it tapers off. But some areas which receive more persistent thunderstorms are likely to be impacted by amounts up to 75 mm.
In addition, the rain will likely begin as some freezing rain this morning over portions of the Haliburton Highlands. The impacts will be quite minimal due to the fairly warm ground. Nonetheless, some local slippery areas are possible before it changes to rain.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
